Career Story

I went to high school in Beijing, China. Then I went to Capital Normal University majoring in Teaching English as Foreign Language, which is a teacher training program. Because I've had great passion in both English & education, so my career goal had been very clear since my high school years and that's why I chose it as my college major. After college, I worked at Beijing Dance Academy teaching English as Foreign Language. Meanwhile, I always keep learning and trying new opportunities for my personal growth and professional development. I went to Pittsburgh, PA USA teaching Chinese as Foreign language for 18 months and I went to Goldsmiths College in London, UK acting as Chinese director. I also act as a supply teacher in the international schools in Beijing, China. I love teaching & learning for its own sake. I also got my Master's degree in Education from Flinders University, Australia. Before immigrated to Canada, I was the department chair and associate professor. I even got my current job at SJK School as a learning commons assistant and boarding assistant when I was in Beijing, China though the competition in the job market is so fierce. I usually combine my passion with my career, and I often help students with their career planning and development, which is actually started in the period of school learning, but many people do not realize it unfortunately. I think the ultimate goal of learning is to lead a good life. Without a clear career goal or a genuine passion, how could someone lead a good life?
