Career Story
If you talked to me in grade 10, I would have said I wanted to be a doctor or a teacher. Over high school, I took several opportunities to try out different fields: Co-op, university tours and workshops. I went on a tour at UW where I saw a student project that looked really fun to me: They were designing the screens for a program that visualized synchronized swimming routines. I decided that I wanted to do work like this. I worked to get the right prerequisites, and applied and got into the program. I got my first job in my field after I wrote a report for an employer about how they could benefit from user experience methods. They made and offered me my dream job. I have applied these skills in many industries: consumer electronics, EdTech, finance, medtech and now security.
