Career Story
Ever since I was a child I wanted to be a teacher. In highschool I was determined to work towards making that dream come true. I wanted to teach languages (French and Spanish). In university I realized I was also fascinated with the actual process of learning a foreign language so I decided to do a PhD in linguistics where I studied foreign language acquisition and multilingualism.
There I met a computer science researcher and I realized that if we worked together and combined my knowledge of language learning with his technical skills, we could build a tool to help millions of people who were trying to learn another language. Way more people than I would ever be able to help teaching one class at a time.
So combining our knowledge, we built an on demand conversation partner powered by a technology called AI.
Then, I wanted to make this technology available to the world so turned it into a startup. This is where my career took a big turn and I became an entrepreneur.
My experience starting and running my own businesses has taught me that entrepreneurship is about much more than starting a new venture. It really is about solving important problems for other people. In other words its about creating value for others, be it economic or social. Whether you are starting a new business, a not for profit or putting together a fundraiser for your school, you are creating value. You are being entrepreneurial.
I apply my entrepreneurial mindset to everything I do in my career and one of my personal goals is to nurture and empower an entrepreneurial mindset in kids, teens and all people, really.
